The Thawalama Development Foundation funded the construction of a library building at the Commando Training Centre in Kuda Oya. This is the training centre at which the best of the best in our army is trained. To widen the knowledge of Commandos under training a library was a very important requirement for this training centre.
On 14th December 2007 is the work in progress at that point of time
In December 2008 is when the work was completed up to roof level.
The Library was declared open by Major General Srinath Rajapakse, the Regimental Commander of the Commando Regiment on 17th September 2009. Mr. Daya Fernando and Col. Anil Amarasekera represented the Thawalama Development Foundation at this opening ceremony.
